Gourmet Italian Cookbooks at the Gilded Lily

Here at the Gilded Lily, we sell a lot of Italian foods: pastas, sauces, peppers, San Marzano tomatoes, and olive oils. To complement them, we also carry a nice variety of gourmet Italian cookbooks. Here are some that have recently arrived:

"Coming Home to Sicily: Seasonal Harvests and Cooking from Case Vecchie." Case Vecchie is Sicily's most venerated cooking school. This book is by its owner, Fabrizia Lanza. The book includes more than 100 of her family recipes. $30.

"Family Italian: Simple, Delicious Favorites Made to Share" is by Italian chef Gennaro Contaldo. He shares recipes for delicious soups, homemade pastas, rich risottos, frittatas, steak, roast chicken, and Italian desserts. $24.95.

Besides recipes for making classics like Margherita and Napolitana pizzas, "Pizza" from Sterling Publishing includes kid-friendly pizzas, gourmet pizzas with wild mushrooms and walnuts, and pizzas you can make super fast on rushed evenings. Just published in September, it sells for $14.95.

"Rustic Italian Food" is by acclaimed Philadelphia chef Marc Vetri. Recipes include sweet Fig and Chestnut Bread, rich Spinach and Ricotta Gnocchi, savory Slow-Roasted Lamb Shoulder, and fragrant Apple Fritters. $35.

"My Tuscan Kitchen: Seasonal Recipes from the Castello di Vicarello" presents recipes from a fairy-tale castle resort located in a previously unknown area of Tuscany called Maremma. Proprietor Aurora Berti arranged the cookbook by seasons. $14.98.

"Lidia Cooks from the Heart of Italy: A Feast of 175 Regional Recipes" is by beloved cook Lidia Bastianich. Lidia presents recipes from the little-known parts of Italy that she explores, including Liguria, Lombardy, Valle D'Aosta, Le Marche, and Umbria. $35.

"The Italian Baker, Revised: The Classic Tastes of the Italian Countryside" shares recipes for breads, pizza, focaccia, cakes, pastries and cookies. $35.

We love this idea! "My Pizza" presents recipes for making no-knead pizza at home, easily! $27.50.

"Small, Sweet, and Italian: Tiny, Tasty Treats from Sweet Maria's Bakery" is by Connecticut bakery owner Maria Bruscino Sanchez. Chapters include Cupcakes Italiano, Italian Pastries, Pies and Tarts, Cookies, Puddings and Custards, and Frozen Desserts. $27.99.
