New Books and Cookbooks at the Gilded Lily

Just in this week: 50 Best Girlfriends Getaways in North America. We thought this was a handy read for women traveling alone, traveling with a best friend, or journeying in groups. Trip suggestions include yoga retreats, festive journeys to Las Vegas, raft trips, heli-hiking, mountain resorts, and even dude ranches! There's a special section on good places to take a teenage daughter.

Planning a wedding? We suggest party expert Colin Cowie's fabulous "Wedding Chic" book. It promises "1001 ideas for every moment of your celebration." The lavish, colorful photographs are sure to inspire you. Chapters include Bouquets, Ceremony Decor, Centerpieces, Receptiion Decor, Cakes, Invitations and Favors, Appearance, Ritual and Ceremony, Food and Drink, Music and the After-Party.

We adore Paula Deen and often prepare meals right out of her cookbooks. So we made sure to order "The Lady & Sons Savannah Country Cookbook."

We also carry the sequel, "The Lady & Sons, Too!" which features even more recipes from Savannah.

For summertime, we're carrying "Bobby Flay's Grill It," featuring 150 simple, delicious recipes for marinades, grilled veggies, burgers, chicken, fruit, potatoes, scallops, salmon, shrimp, and other barbecue favorites.

Looking ahead to fall, we're offering "The Gourmet Slow Cooker." Volume II features regional comfort food classics, including soups, chilis, stews, meat and fish, sides, and desserts. We're trying to get brave enough to try the Peanut Soup recipe!

We're already pigging out on cupcakes we've made from our Martha Stewart's Cupcakes book, and now we're stirring up more mischief with the Martha Stewart's Cookies. This book has 175 cookie recipes to choose from.

See these and our other cookbooks and thoughtfully selected lifestyle books at The Gilded Lily in downtown Wenatchee!
